Adelphi is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to provide primary and urgent care services to individuals in custody within a correctional facility in Whatcom County, Washington. The ideal candidate will have experience in correctional, family practice, or public health settings and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based care in a secure environment. Job Quick Facts • Ref#: BD-1016-11 • Profession: Nurse Practitioner (NP) • Specialty: Primary Care – Correctional Healthcare • Job Type: Contract • Location: Whatcom County, Washington State • Coverage Type: Onsite • Service Setting: Correctional Facility • Facility Type: County Jail • Shift Schedule: Full-time or part-time (may include evenings and weekends) • Compensation: TBD Requirements • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Master’s or Doctoral level) • Current, unrestricted NP license in the State of Washington • National certification in Family Practice, Adult-Gerontology, or equivalent specialty • Current DEA registration and NPI number • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (correctional, urgent care, or public health preferred) • CPR/BLS certification (AHA-approved) • Familiarity with NCCHC standards and Washington State healthcare regulations • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment • Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening Responsibilities • Deliver comprehensive primary and urgent care services to individuals in custody. • Conduct intake health assessments, chronic disease management, and follow-up visits. • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common acute and chronic conditions within NP scope of practice. • Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with Washington State scope-of-practice regulations and clinical guidelines. • Respond to medical emergencies and provide stabilization. • Collaborate with physicians, PAs, nurses, mental health staff, and correctional personnel. • Maintain detailed and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). • Support infection control, detox monitoring, and discharge planning processes. • Ensure compliance with NCCHC, WAC, and applicable facility healthcare policies.
