Design Engineer – Hydrology & Hydraulics
Overview Southland Consulting Engineers has an immediate career opportunity for an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join the H&H team in our Dallas-based office!
Responsibilities - Support our H&H division by independently performing engineering assignments with specified objectives
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and exercise time management skills to balance multiple projects and priorities
- Perform technical writing in the form of design memorandums and drainage impact analysis reports, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (including CLOMR/LOMR submittals to FEMA), and master plans
- Assist with developing scopes of work and associated budgets to create feasible deadlines
- Ensure that deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations
- Assignments may include: hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain impact studies, stormwater and water resources design, stormwater and watershed management planning studies, surface water resource and allocation studies, water resource systems modeling and yield analysis; dam break studies, flood risk assessment and emergency action plans, water quality analysis, erosion and sediment studies and other aspects of comprehensive water resources planning and design
Qualifications - 1+ years of relevant design experience in stormwater planning, design and H&H modeling
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Biological, or Environmental Engineering, or the appropriate combination of work/education experience
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Texas
- Experience with ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Civil3D, HydroCAD, SWMM and/or other related hydrologic & hydraulic modeling software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to take ownership of their engineering work and contribute to the overall success of the business
